Alertsec Xpress is designed to be installed on Windows XP (Professional, 32-bit, SP2 and later), Vista (Enterprise, Ultimate, Business, 32- and 64-bit, SP1 and later) or 7 (Enterprise, Professional, Ultimate, 32- and 64-bit) platforms only.
Alertsec Xpress is powered by Check Point for PC software which has been pre-configured to offer a best practice configuration in respect to password management. Even though Alertsec Xpress offers a standardized configuration, each installation becomes unique once the software has been installed and the user chooses an identity and password.
Once deployed, Alertsec Xpress offers strong boot protection and encryption. The PC is encrypted with 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), using an encryption key that is securely generated locally. An encrypted recovery file is written back to the Alertsec server to enable a recovery of the information, should a disk failure occur in the future.
Alertsec Xpress is using a sector-by-sector encryption technique, often referred to as "hard disk encryption", which encrypts the whole disk at installation, regardless of whether or not there is information on the disk. The result is a solution that is fast, reliable and transparent to users and applications, such as antivirus systems, file encryption applications, sales systems, etc. As the technique is decrypting "on-the-fly" the delay when opening applications is negligible and all information exported to servers, alternative storage media or sent by email, is in clear text.
The benefit compared to other encryption methods is that the user never has to make any adjustments, changes or security decisions, as all information is automatically encrypted the instant it is saved to the disk. The only thing needed is to enter the right ID and password at boot-up. This provides enforceable security that cannot be bypassed.
Check Point Full Disk Encryption has achieved the highest security certifications a commercial product can be awarded. Check Point FDE is certified to Common Criteria EAL-4 and FIPS 140-1. The software is also the first software to achieve BITS certification for the financial industry.
